Blue Print & Wisteria
Two new stores have opened in Dallas that you should put on your Christmas shopping map...the first being Blue Print on Fairmount in the newly restored house that used to be home to Uncommon Market for three decades. The ladies behind the design firm, Collins Interiors, opened Blue Print a couple of weeks ago and I was there taking a peek the very first hour they opened. I was wide-eyed the entire time and was quickly rethinking my entire home's decor direction. Do yourself a favor and visit their website and watch the video about their story because it takes you through a few of the rooms within this beautiful home/store. I wish I had taken pictures but it was the one day I didn't have my camera on me. But let's just say they had me at "hello", which is so perfectly painted on the front door.

Thanksgiving
This image cracks me up a little. I mean seriously...does your plate look like this on Thanksgiving day? Not mine. Mine is one big cheesy, carby, casseroley mish-mash looking situation. This is way too pretty and I can guarantee you that a cute leaf cut-out is not on top of my potatoes. That's where gravy resides.

On a side note, I was just listening to a report about how cranberries are even better for us than previously thought. I wish I could find really great ways to incorporate fresh cranberries (not dried) into more (savory, not sweet) meals, not just at Thanksgiving time. If you have any to share, please pass them my way; I'd be so thankful.
Now here is my absolute favorite image from Martha Stewart Living circa 1998 (scanned from my MS magazine archives). Reminds me of running around the Upper West Side the evening before the parade, watching the balloons being blown up, which is as much fun as watching it the next day.
I'm off to Stella's school today for their Thanksgiving feast. This year, I'm especially thankful that she is a part of this precious school...I'm thankful for the songs she learns there and sings at home in operatic fashion, for the artwork she creates daily...
I'm just beyond thankful to have another day with this little person (picture from last Thanksgiving day)...

I've been roaming around the Internet for recipes as most people are this time of year. I'll save this one for the summer but y'all...I love pickled shrimp. It's the Southerner in me, I suppose.

Cherries in the Snow, anyone? Of course this only happened when we were about to walk out the door for the mall ("Ready?" "Look mom!"). I'd like to thank the following to ease MY meltdown: Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo, Excedrin, and later, the drive-thru Starbucks. It was pretty contained but had it gotten on the new berber carpet or furniture, I'd be writting this post from a trauma unit. I pretended to be angrier than I really was and tried to delete pictures off my camera between pretend huffs & puffs to free up the filled memory card to take this picture of her, which for some reason did not capture how bad it really was. I gave her a quick bath and off to the mall we went. I wanted to get started on my Christmas shopping for everybody but never made it out of the children's wing. Loved this curtain fabric used in the dressing room of Crew Cuts:

I had a "curious coin" (gift card) to Peek burning a hole in my wallet so I got Stella this dress for next summer...
And more pieces from the Little Peanut cotton line, which is the comfiest line ever (so in love with this collection!). Stella is wearing their dress and leggings in these pictures that I took today while visiting the park and feeding the ducks. I highly recommend this line - great for active little ones, easy to layer, and it's 30% off right now.
I love holiday issues of magazines. This is the cutest idea to dress up the table...angel wings (attached to perfect little cane chairs) as seen in the new Country Living magazine.

Missing Q Press
I thought I had found the perfect calendar until I came across the Dallas letterpress company, Missing Q Press. Earlier this week I tried to purchase their 2011 calendar via Etsy but had trouble with PayPal (grrrrrrr....). But Missing Q Press could not have been more patient and accommodating and I love the perfectly packaged arrival in my mailbox...
This is the 5th year I've ordered a letterpressed
calendar for my desk at work and this is by far my favorite!
UPDATE: I had read about Missing Q Press before but it's when
posted pictures of their studio...it's a must-see!
