Llama Drama

It took me until this season, but I'm officially hooked.  Have you been watching The Fabulous Beekman Boys on Planet Green?  I love to watch the trials and tribulations of building a business (and a dream).  Thanks to my friend, Janna, for making me tune in.
Brent, formerly with Martha Stewart, and Josh, who works in advertising, decided to leave New York City and head upstate to renovate and operate Beekman Farm (only Josh is still needing to work a bit longer and is bitterly humorous about it).  They've parlayed it into a business, peddling the likes of goat milk soap, onion jam, flower seeds, etc.  I so wish I could visit!

Anna Wintour

I can't imagine Vogue without Anna Wintour, perhaps because she has been the editor since I was 14.  When an old co-worker of mine left to become one of her infamous assistants, we looked at her
with concern and asked, "you have read the book, haven't you?", of course, referring to The Devil Wears Prada.  But truth be told, I'm intrigued by the likes of Anna and Martha and always want to know what makes them tick.  Thus, I enjoyed this article about Anna's influence on fashion.

A Reason To Have A Party

Stella's 3rd birthday is around the corner and I have to admit that I was not excited to plan it.  I think I've become so overwhelmed with seeing pictures on blogs of perfectly executed parties complete with buffets fit for weddings and professional letter pressed signs, tags, etc. that I just simply shut down.  I miss the simplicity of little one's parties where the cake was homemade and not covered in fondant characters.  Don't get me wrong...I've been scouring party blogs for some inspiration and I will get something personalized so it's not completely lack luster.  But I'm not going overboard.  And I am so relieved I've let myself off the hook.  Always one to shy away from "themes", I'm going to let pinwheels take center stage...something so simple and reminiscent of childhood.  Would love to hear your thoughts on children's birthday parties.  Do you have anxiety over them?

Stella's Little Project

Do you have a mini Picasso running around your house?  You should have them enter this contest for a chance to have their artwork printed on an exclusive tee shirt to be part of Stella McCartney's kids line.  I voted for this one and a few others...

Heart Necklace

This necklace would be adorable for the summer.  I like how it's paired with crisp stripes here.

Southern Food / March Madness

Pecan Pie vs. Fried Pickles?  Shrimp & Grits vs. Oyster Po Boy?  My friend and I are playing along with Garden & Gun's Ultimate Southern Food Bracket.  It started a few days ago but if you want to print out the bracket to follow along (or catch up and play the balance of the showdown) you can find it on Garden & Gun's Facebook page.  My pick for the champion?  The crawfish boil.

Puddle-wonderful

Wouldn't these Tretorn boots be perfect for splish-splashing around in all the rain this spring?

Easy Enchiladas

I think I just found heaven in a pouch.  I've seen Frontera products at Whole Foods before but did not make the connection that it's Rick Bayless's line.  Always looking for short cuts for weekday dinners, I picked up this enchilada sauce.  I just followed the recipe on the back, adding chicken and using reduced-fat cheese...it bakes for only 15 minutes...and then I added scallions and cilantro on top once done.  I paired it w/ a simple salad while my husband made some rice for his side.  This is now a new, easy favorite, the sauce was so delish!  It makes 4 enchiladas, although, you could probably squeeze out 1 more and really, you could fill your enchiladas with so many options.

The Sunshine State

I'm finally settling in after our road trip to Florida to meet my new nephew, Jackson.  He was so tiny and pink and smelled like heaven.  Luckily, the weather was perfect so we hit the beach twice.  I can never go and not visit Seaside...it's one of my all-time favorite places.  We also drove out a little further past Seaside along 30A to the newer community of Alys Beach.  That's where the photo of the bookstore/cafe, Fonville Press, is located.  I'm now contemplating how I can buy Seagrove Villas Motel, live on-site, and run the joint.  Will y'all come visit if I do?  Here are some pictures from our trip, where Stella learned how to wink, learned how to put chips in her sandwich, which made me cry because it made me realize she's no longer a baby, and where she got some play time in with her cousins, Macey and baby Jackson.

Jack Rogers

First came the long-time-coming website and now a store on the Upper East Side.  Jack Rogers has opened at 1181 Madison Avenue...just in time for summer!

MIA

Hello!  Hello!  It's me!  I've been a little MIA, but for good reason.  I'll be back soon to post more but I'll give you a tiny clue as to where I've been...
This is a picture perfect bookstore & cafe.
Can you guess where I've been?
