"As in music, so in life"...one of my favorite quotes that used to be printed at the bottom of the menu of my favorite Mexican restaurant. Chips, salsa, and profoundness. As for the music, I'm in love with this beautiful song this morning...

As for life, I'm feeling a bit like Marilyn Monroe in this picture. It was shot by Ed Feingersh, who followed Marilyn for days while in NY, capturing a very real side of her. His photos were discovered in a warehouse in 1987 and they are some of the ones I love the most of her. You can read more here.

I absolutely love the rustic, nature-inspired, homemade look of these cakes all from Alicia Paulson of Posie Gets Cozy. And truly, her photographs are so wonderful that she makes even oatmeal look special.

Queen Lip Tar

I'm a red lipstick kind of girl. But ever since Laura Mercier discontinued Pink Grape {as worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in A Perfect Murder} years ago, I've yet to find another perfect shade. In all honesty, I haven't even tried. I love the shade used below on J Crew's models, Queen by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I rarely buy things over the Internet that I can't test drive but the sound of this "lip tar" sounds intriguing...

Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish.
