Happy Valentine's Day

"I want a Sunday kind of love" - Etta James

Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward were married for 50 years
after having connected on the film, A Long Hot Summer.
Sounds like a Sunday kind of love to me.

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Random Weekend Thoughts

A little bit of lately captured on my iphone...

I hand-stitched gingham hearts onto Stella's sleeves.

Thought these heart-shaped steaks were funny...

Enjoyed the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art with my sister and Stella. Dallas is only one of three North American cities, along with Montreal and San Francisco, that have the honor of hosting the French designer's work.

I spotted honeycomb at Empire Bakery and
plan on picking this up the next time I need to bring
something to somebody's home.

Prepping Valentines.  I had a helper.  Where did she go?

Oh, there she is...
hiding under the table putting on make-up.
Such a girly girl.

Have a sweet week!

Buried Treasure

This past weekend Stella was playing in the yard while Jeff mowed the grass.  When she came back into the house, she showed me three tiny plastic dinosaurs she had dug up.  Our guess is that the little girl who lived in the house before us buried them.  Isn't that just a child's dream come true?  To find buried treasure!  Jeff told me she had found 1 dinosaur in that spot before so she continued her archaeological dig to find more.  So that the fun continues, we are going to buy and bury more, a few at a time.  If you have a patch of dirt that you can spare for a dig, this is so much fun for the kids!

I want these chairs so badly!

It's by Les Indiennes and you can order on-line here.

In a Manner of Speaking

Upon searching for this song, In a Manner of Speaking by Nouvelle Vague, I came across this video set to the scenes from An Education. It's so perfectly suited for this film and with Valentine's Day around the corner, I'm sure we all have love on the mind.  Even if unrequited.

Armommy

I was chatting with a fellow mom yesterday who told me she hates those moms who sends their child to school with a valentines that have "things like their picture in a heart or a monogrammed sticker".  There was lots of eye-rolling.  She said it felt like a competition. I nodded in agreement knowing full well that I had just placed an order for the most precious personalized stickers for Stella's valentine favors.  Don't get me wrong...I do find drugstore valentines so charming; that's what we grew up on.  But when I found ARMOMMY's envelopes with sticker labels last year, I was in love.  It's such a no-brainer for a busy mom and Rae is such a delight to work with.  I placed my order yesterday so I bet there is still time for you to do so, too.  I chose the tent design that reads "I think your're tops" and since it's a circus theme, I'm going to fill it with a mix of popcorn and pink and red M&Ms.

She also has some DIY printables that could be a fun project to do with your child.

So what is your school favor strategy?  Do you find pleasure in thinking and executing or do you find yourself at CVS the evening before, hoping they aren't sold out?
